Hyperliquid Just Printed a New Record as Lending Goes Live

HYPE, the token of the Hyperliquid trading platform, touched 92.56 dollars on September 18, a new all time high according to CoinGecko, with some venues printing as high as 93.18. The previous record of 89.66 dated from September 6, so the token cleared its old ceiling by a healthy margin and kept climbing into the evening near 91.57.

The spark was product, pure and simple. On the same day, Hyperliquid switched on a lending feature on its HyperCore trading layer: deposit HYPE or Bitcoin as collateral and borrow the stablecoins USDC or USDT against it. Around 269 million dollars in loans went out on day one, which tells you demand was waiting at the door.

The mechanism is straightforward and self reinforcing while markets rise. Anyone who wants to post HYPE as collateral has to hold HYPE, which adds demand. Anyone who borrows against their stack gets liquidity while keeping their position, which removes sell pressure. Both forces push the same direction, and the market cap now sits near 20.4 billion dollars, eleventh among all cryptocurrencies.

The numbers around it are striking. HYPE ran from 82.80 to 92.56 on the day, gained close to 12 percent on the week, about 46 percent over 30 days, and roughly 56 percent over the year. On the same day Bitcoin added close to 6 percent and Solana 11.5 percent, putting HYPE among the strongest large caps in the recovery.

For context on the platform itself: Hyperliquid is a decentralized exchange for perpetual futures running its own order book on its own blockchain, built for fast execution. The HYPE token helps secure the network, and the platform directs part of its revenue into buying the token back, which ties the token's fortunes directly to trading activity. Around 222 million HYPE circulate out of a maximum supply of one billion.

Sharp readers will note the flip side of leverage, and the smart play stays the same as always: know your liquidation threshold, size positions with room to breathe, and treat borrowed money with respect. Lending amplifies moves in both directions, which is exactly why disciplined borrowers come out ahead.

What it means for you: DeFi keeps shipping features that traditional finance took decades to build, and markets reward working products fast. Borrowing against your holdings instead of selling them is a powerful primitive, and Hyperliquid just proved the demand is real. In crypto, the builders who ship get the tape.
