Nexus Mods Just Adopted SteamDB, and PC Gaming Keeps Its Memory
Nexus Mods has acquired SteamDB, and if you play on PC, two institutions you rely on just became family. Nexus, the home of Skyrim mods and wild Witcher 3 overhauls, is now the parent company of the largest free database of everything on Steam, from price histories to patch tracking to expansion listings.
SteamDB began in 2013 as a fan project by Pavel 'xPaw' Djundik and Marlamin, two Valve fans with curiosity and time. Thirteen years later it is infrastructure: millions of gamers, developers, and publishers check it daily. But infrastructure built on passion has a human cost, and xPaw has been open about it. His co founder stepped back for personal reasons around the launch of Steam Direct, the workload kept compounding, and he describes pure burnout from years of what amounted to a full time job done for love. Steam keeps growing in games, players, and features, and the mental load of tracking it all alone kept climbing with it.
He struggled to find a team he trusted to carry it forward, until this January, when he started talking to Nexus Mods. The fit makes sense.
