3,254 Transactions in One Ledger: the XRP Network's New Record Meets RLUSD's 2.44 Billion Dollar High
The XRP Ledger processed 3,254 transactions in a single ledger this week, a new all time record for the network. Validator operator Vet spotted the milestone and used it to explain how XRPL's dynamic capacity differs from Bitcoin's fixed block size limits: ledgers that pack in more transactions than the current target and still close fast can raise the target, letting the network clear more going forward.
The record deserves a careful read, and Vet provided one. Most of the 3,254 entries were simple one drop XRP payments, each moving a millionth of an XRP, which places minimal load on validators. He estimated 500 basic payments might barely register while 200 DEX heavy transactions could push a ledger toward its limits. The throughput event also looks like deliberate capacity testing rather than organic payment demand, with the account behind it staying anonymous.
The important part is what it proves about the architecture. XRPL prioritizes ledger close times under five seconds above raw counts; when closes slow, throughput reins itself in automatically. That design philosophy, speed first with adaptive capacity, is the foundation Ripple's payments case has always rested on, and this week it passed a live stress test at record volume.
The record arrived alongside two more markers of activity. Ripple's dollar backed stablecoin RLUSD touched a new all time high of 2.442 billion dollars in circulating supply, up from about 1.7 billion in mid August. On Upbit, South Korea's dominant exchange, XRP led weekly trading volume at roughly 8 billion dollars, a reminder of the token's deep regional following.
The price has yet to catch the activity. XRP traded near 1.39 dollars, up 2.28 percent on the day, even as the network set records around it. Analyst Ali Charts flagged a potential technical breakout above 1.38 dollars with 1.60 as the next level to watch, but the honest frame is simpler: usage is leading, price is following, and the gap between them is the tension in this trade.
The timing lines up with real protocol work. XRPL validators are moving through a batch of upgrades in the latest software release, including Batch V1.1, which enables batching up to eight transactions in a single bundle for AI agent payments and institutional settlement. It has reached 82.9 percent validator support and enters its final activation timer on September 29. RippleX also shipped version 1.1 of its XRPL AI Starter Kit with native support for the Machine Payments Protocol, so autonomous agents can pay for APIs and compute in 3 to 5 seconds using XRP.
For you, records like this one are infrastructure maturing in public. A ledger that handles its busiest day ever, a stablecoin at an all time supply high, and the busiest order book on Korea's biggest exchange all point to a network doing more work than its price has rewarded. Infrastructure first, repricing second: that is the order these things tend to follow.
